A few years back, I completed three modules of Fluenz Spanish to get ready for a trip to Spain. To start, I really enjoyed using this program because it involved my hearing, sight, and movement. Plus, I appreciated picking up some grammar along the way. Thanks to those three modules, I could chat with folks on the phone in Spain and even coordinate with an Airbnb host who didn’t know any English.

Currently, I’m diving into Italian as I prep for a trip to Italy. Even though Italian is trickier than Spanish, I’m still having a blast learning it and can’t wait to put my language skills to the test when I hit Tuscany. Arrivederci!

To start off, I gotta say that the Fluenz program is decent, but they ain't exactly breaking new ground, and the app doesn’t get much love. Their main focus seems to be on private and group lessons.

Now, here’s where it gets shady. For the past three years, they’ve been hitting up their email list, claiming that their programs are in high definition (HD). Back in the first year, I reached out to see if I could upgrade my Spanish to an HD version. Turns out, most languages didn’t even have an HD option. I figured, okay, maybe it was just a one-off mistake.

Then, in 2020, they sent out the same email again. I asked about the HD version once more and got the same old story: many languages still didn’t have it, even though they were advertising all programs as HD.

Fast forward to 2021, and guess what? Another email, still no HD.

So, in a nutshell, they’ve managed to get hundreds, if not thousands, of folks to buy their program based on misleading ads for three years straight. Nice job!

I've been at it with Fluenz French for a few years and I'm nearly done with the fifth and last set of lessons. The emphasis is more on the basics of grammar and how to structure sentences rather than just memorizing phrases, which helps you communicate with French speakers and really express yourself. It’s been quite the time investment, and like with any language learning, I've added in some other materials, but I gotta say, Fluenz is a top-notch resource.

I gotta say, I used to throw a lot of cash at learning languages, but then I stumbled upon a lesson on YouTube. Once I checked out the website, I jumped right in and now I remind myself daily that it was a fantastic decision. With each lesson, I can see how much I'm improving. I really wish they had lessons for English too, 'cause I'm tired of courses that don’t teach me anything. Huge thanks!

I attempted to use Learn Mandarin while in China, particularly in Qindao, and faced some performance issues along with trouble setting it up for learning Chinese characters. Now that I'm back in the States, I plan to give it another shot, but it was definitely disappointing not being able to use the app during my 2-month stay in China.

This program is packed with exercises that are structured to help us revisit certain words and phrases in various ways. This keeps things fresh and engaging, making it easier to learn. The lessons are designed to progress in manageable steps, which is perfect for self-learners like us. Sure, we gotta put in the effort and practice as often as we can, even if it's just a little bit each day. But if we stick to the guidance and keep pushing through the lessons, we can really pick it up. When it comes to speaking, we can't rely solely on this program, but honestly, it's the best one I've ever used.

This program is a fantastic tool for learning conversational Italian in a way that's easy to use. The teaching strategy is well-structured, with just the right amount of repetition to help you remember what you learn. The review discs for conversation practice aren't too tough, though. It might be a good idea to add links on the main page to some movies or short films in different languages.

I'm currently at Spanish level 5 and have picked up the imperfect verb tense through this program. They break down the conditions for using the imperfect into manageable bits, with each lesson focusing on just one condition. I'm really happy with how much I've improved. Thanks to the thorough reviews and interactive elements, I feel like I'm holding onto what I learn way better than I did with other ways of studying, like textbooks. I just wish there were additional levels available.

I was drawn to Fluenz right away, mainly because of an instructor who's quite easy on the eyes, but also due to how simple it was to grasp the concepts she presented. I haven't managed to carve out regular sessions in my schedule just yet, but I'm eager to get started.

I genuinely prefer Fluenz compared to all the other programs I've used, like Rosetta Stone. The one thing holding me back from a full 5-star rating is that the iPad app and the desktop version don’t sync up, so you gotta remember where you stopped. The podcasts are top-notch too.

This is definitely a way better approach to learning compared to Rosetta Stone. I kinda regretted getting Rosetta after just a few weeks. Felt like I wasn't picking up much, and their techniques weren't all that useful. It would be cool if you could chat with real folks live. But hey, it's not a huge issue.

I've given both programs a shot, and I gotta say, Fluenz is hands down the best for picking up Italian on my own. I tried out Rosetta Stone to check out their method, but I felt totally confused after just a couple of chapters. I’d definitely suggest Fluenz to anyone looking to dive into a new language. It’s a really well-designed program that helps you gradually get into the new language.

I recently began French 3 and I'm really struggling with the audio parts of the sessions. I get that this might be similar to what we encounter when we listen to native speakers, but honestly, it's super tough to make it through a session. Levels 1 and 2 were a breeze for me, and I can grasp what I picked up from them when I check out any other materials. I also watch and listen to online videos for extra practice.

I went through the trial lesson of Fluenz and compared it with a well-known rival. No comparison at all. Fluenz came out on top, no doubt. I've been using it for a couple of months now. My wife and I tackle the lessons side by side. It's logical, organized, and enjoyable. You can begin from scratch, and it guides you along the way. The lessons advance as you improve.

I've given a bunch of language courses a shot, and I found Fluenz to be a straightforward option that fits into my free time easily. Spending just an hour daily on the lessons really boosted my learning. While it shares some similarities with Rosetta Stone, there are notable differences too. If you're heading overseas, Fluenz is definitely a worthwhile program.
